Known to be one of the most hardiest ornamental hawthorns. It is highly recommended for small home landscapes, but requires a wind sheltered space. It features showy clusters of white flowers with pink overtones that are held atop the branches mid-spring. The foliage is a forest green shape and are glossy lobed shaped leaves. There are red pomes that bloom from early to late fall. Another interesting dimension to this tree is its rough gray bark.
This tree will grow to be about 18 ft at maturity, with a spread of 12 ft. It has a low canopy. It grows at a medium rate. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist. This tree does require occasional maintenance and upkeep, though gardeners should be aware of special consideration including disease and spiny. Do not plant near Junipers because of Juniper-Hawthorn rust.
