Summer Isn’t Canceled: Ways to Bring Fun Home

Canceled. It’s a common word lately. I’d be lying if I didn’t say hearing that word has sucked a lot of joy out of our household. It’s a common story. We had a list of summer plans. Instead, we have bummed kids and a bummed mom. It’s caused many of us to find ways to be a little more creative. Here are a few ways you can bring a piece of summer fun to your home.

Get Splashing

If you have a pool, this one is easy. But if you haven’t been one of the lucky ones to get a pool, sprinklers are still easy to find and can create a ton of backyard fun. A hose or two and a sprinkler and you have your own backyard splash pad. Bonus points if you have a trampoline and set one up nearby. My kids love it.

Bring a Taste of Your Favorite Destination Home

Fire up the grill. Explore a new recipe. Missed your trip to Cancun? Traeger has fantastic recipes for carne asada and margaritas. Hoping to get some Memphis BBQ in Memphis, Big Green Egg has a few for some BBQ ribs too.

Create Your Own Backyard Escape

Now has never been a better time to create your own backyard escape. Maybe it’s time to take the plunge on that new patio set. Maybe you’d really like to roast some marshmallows on a fire pit with the kids. Maybe your old chairs or curbside finds could use a fresh coat of spray paint. Maybe watching the birds on their feeders and sipping on a cold drink in your YETI cup just sounds like a really nice way to relax.

Or maybe you’re ready to do some landscaping, aren’t sure where to go next, and could use the help of a designer. Already started a project and need help completing it? You might benefit from some expert garden coaching advice to avoid costly mistakes.

Whatever your dream escape looks like, our friendly team of seasoned experts can help you get what you're looking for.

Plant Memories

Gardening isn’t canceled, and it’s not too late to plant. You’ll want to be more conscious of watering and allow your plants to get at least a little shade throughout the day, but you can still get planting. It’s also great fun for the whole family. Think about assigning the kids a section of the garden they’re in charge of. Give each kid a pot or small planter they’re responsible for. Whatever you do, don’t be afraid to get a little messy and have fun.

Find a Project

Sometimes it's just great to do a project. Build a tire swing. Rehab an old dresser. Find a fresh color for your favorite room. Whatever project you find, our team at Steve’s is here to help.
