If you like bountiful blooms of red, this one is for you. Prairifire Crabapple has red-maroon foliage, which matures to dark green with a purplish overcast. In fall, the foliage turns an excellent red-orange that makes it stand out in the landscape. 1/2" deep purple-red fruits persist all winter. This is more of a slow-growing crabapple tree. It ranks high in regards to being disease-resistant. It's a University of Illinois, Urbana introduction in 1982.
